Unity by uniformity...

There's something to be said of individuality. In grade school, uniforms were becoming a mandatory requirement. The administrators wanted to create unity by uniformity to crack down on behavioral problems and encourage focus in the classrooms. And it worked for a time. As the clothes that kids and teens usually use to express themselves were being turned into a sea of hunter green and blue shirts and khaki pants, there was one thing that administrators forgot to create regulations on...shoes. Soon after the change, students began using their shoes to express their individuality. The designs, styles, and colors were as unique as the individual. The unity that had developed, however, did not come from the uniforms. Rather, it came from the silent movement to stand up and show how well they could stand out, be different, and still achieve greatness. You can stand up and be great with your individuality too by learning to set up your phone in the way will help you shine at your place of business.

Setting up BLF Line Keys

Click the Inventory icon → Click the Phone Hardware tab → Click the RFbuilder icon on a phone/device row → Click on a numbered line in the right column or a button on the phone displayed. Select a feature → destination username/extension for that line key → Give it a label/name. Once complete, click Save. 

Please note that you can click the blue line number and drag it into a different position on the device. 

Adding & Setting up a Sidecar to a phone

Best Practice is to have the sidecar already plugged into the phone prior to setting up the lines.

Click the Inventory icon → Click the Phone Hardware tab → Click the RFbuilder icon on the phone with a side car. Select the "Add Sidecar" tab → Select the Sidecar model → Click Add Sidecar. Adjust your line keys → Click Save.

Please Note: Clicking Save will not change the current setup on your phone until it reboots. Clicking Save and Resync with update the settings on your phone. Depending on the phone model, your phone may need to be restarted despite clicking the Save and Resync option. 

Line Key Options:

  • Line Appearance: Assigns a user to the line.
  • Shared Line Appearance: Shares a line appearance with another phone. Calls to the shared line user can be picked up and held from any phone that has the shared line.
  • User (BLF): Shows a user with status (BLF=Busy Lamp Field). Calls the user when pressed.
  • Call Park: Parks a call to the entered Call Park. Pressing again will retrieve the call from the Call Park.
  • Speed Dial: Calls the entered phone number.
  • DTMF: Sends DTMF tones. These can be interpreted to run an application. Compatible string characters include numbers, star, and the has symbols. 
  • Queue Toggle: Toggles the active queue status for the user. All queues will be toggled.
  • Timeframe Toggle: Toggles the active status of the selected timeframe.

Managing Configuration Templates

Click the Inventory icon → Click the Phone Hardware tab → Click the drop-down arrow next to the RFbuilder button → Select Manage Configuration Templates. 

  • Adding a new template: Give the template a name, a description, and select the phone model → Click Add. Configure the template for that model similar to the above Click Save. 
    • If you make an adjustment and would like to make it a secondary template for the same model, just click the drop-down arrow next to save →  Click Save as a new template and name it. 
  • Editing an existing template: Click the existing template in the Configuration Templates list → Click Edit → adjust the template → Click Save.
  • Deleting an existing template: Click the existing template in the Configuration Templates list → Click Delete → adjust the template → Click Save.
