Life on the go...

By the end of 2016, it was said that the average person carried 3.64 connected devices. With the number of devices being created skyrocketing, people are more and more interested in their own versatility and productivity no matter where they are. We see you and we understand this need. So this solution article is dedicated to helping you get connected and get going faster. To begin, one of the key pieces of information that you'll need is a MAC address.

What is a MAC address and where do I find it?

A MAC address is a 12 character sequence that every piece of hardware has similarly to people having a Social Security Number. No two are alike! It is typically found with a bar code on your device. It will say MAC and then have a mix of letters and numbers. They may be formatted in a single row (0004beC7f9d5) or will have every two characters separated by colons (00:04:be:C7:f9:d5).

On a desk phone, it is usually on the back or bottom of the device..

On most cordless phones, you would need to open the battery housing and remove the battery to find it on the phone.

If your device is missing the sticker or plate that has this info or if you are using a device such as a cell phone, these numbers are typically programmed into the phone as well. As each device is a little different, take a look through the general settings or the About section of your device to find this. It may be labeled as "MAC" or "Serial number".

If you're trying to find it in the menus of the desk phones, this can be easily found in the Status section. Depending on your device make and model, you may be able to just hit the OK hard key on your dial pad.
